Who runs this site

Getcrimata is an independently owned and operated website run by Barbara Lezis and published by FTW Investing LLC. It is not owned by, or affiliated with, any manufacturer, retailer or brand we write about.

Questions, corrections and suggestions are welcome through our contact page.

What we cover

We write buying guides and comparisons for home goods (such as kitchen appliances and floor care) and consumer electronics (such as audio and personal devices). Our guides focus on the decision itself: which features make a real difference, which are mostly marketing, and which questions to answer about your own situation before you spend money.

Our editorial approach

Independent

No company pays to be included in, or to influence, anything we publish. We do not accept payment for placement, and we don't let advertisers or affiliate partners review content before it goes live. If we ever receive a product free of charge from a manufacturer, we will say so in the article that discusses it.

Data-driven

We build our comparisons from sources you can check: manufacturer specifications and manuals, published technical standards (for example, the IEC 60529 standard behind "IP" water-resistance ratings), and independent test data where it exists. When we rely on a specific figure, we tell you where it came from. When a claim can't be verified, or when manufacturers measure things in ways that aren't comparable, we say that plainly rather than filling the gap with guesses.

Honest about what we haven't done

Unless an article says otherwise, our guides are research-based and are not the result of hands-on lab testing. We will clearly label any hands-on testing we do, including how it was carried out.

No shortcuts

• No fake or paid reviews, and no invented testimonials.
• No made-up statistics or unverifiable "lab scores".
• No "as seen on" badges or manufactured urgency.
• Criteria first, products second: we would rather help you rule things out than push you toward a particular model.

How the site is funded
