Privacy policy
This policy explains what information is collected when you visit getcrimata.com (the "site"), how it is used, and the choices you have. The site is operated by Getcrimata ("we", "us"). If you have questions, contact us at hello@getcrimata.com.
Summary: We don't run accounts, comments, newsletters or advertising trackers, and the site itself does not set cookies. Our hosting provider processes basic technical data to deliver pages. If you click an affiliate link, the retailer you visit may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy.
1. Information we collect
Information you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and the contents of your message. We use this only to read and reply to you, and to keep a record of corrections or requests.
Technical information collected by our host
The site is a static website hosted on GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc. When you visit, GitHub's servers receive standard technical information that any web server needs to deliver a page, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested. GitHub states that it may log visitor IP addresses for security purposes. We do not receive or control those logs. See the GitHub General Privacy Statement for details.
What we don't collect
We don't have user accounts, comment forms or newsletter sign-ups, and we don't knowingly collect sensitive personal information.
2. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. The site itself does not set any cookies and does not currently use analytics, advertising or social media tracking scripts.
If we add analytics or any other tool that uses cookies or similar technologies in the future, we will update this policy before doing so, describe what the tool collects, and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first.
You can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Most browsers also let you block third-party cookies specifically.
3. Affiliate links
Some links on the site may be affiliate links, as explained in our affiliate disclosure. When you click one, you leave our site and go to a retailer's or affiliate network's website. That party may place a cookie or use similar technology in your browser to record that you arrived from our site, so that a commission can be attributed if you make a qualifying purchase.
- Those cookies are set and controlled by the retailer or network, not by us, and are governed by their privacy policies.
- We don't receive your name, contact details or payment information from these programs. Affiliate programs typically give publishers aggregated reports, such as the number of clicks or the value of purchases, rather than information that identifies you.
- You can avoid affiliate tracking by blocking third-party cookies or by visiting the retailer directly rather than through our link.
4. Third-party websites
Our articles may link to manufacturers, retailers, standards bodies and other websites. We aren't responsible for their content or privacy practices, and we encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit.
5. How we use information
We use the limited information described above only to respond to your messages, correct and improve our content, and keep the site secure and working. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We may disclose information if required to do so by law, or where necessary to protect our rights or the safety of others.
6. How long we keep information
We keep emails for as long as needed to deal with your message and any follow-up, and then delete them within a reasonable period unless we need to keep them for legal reasons. You can ask us to delete your correspondence at any time.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask us to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, or to receive a copy of your information. This includes rights under the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation and U.S. state privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
To make a request, email hello@getcrimata.com. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on it. If you are in the EU or UK and are unhappy with our response, you can complain to your local data protection authority.
Where the GDPR applies, our legal basis for handling your emails is our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us.
8. Children's privacy
The site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the limited information we hold.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site changes, for example if we add analytics. We will post the updated version on this page and change the effective date above. Significant changes will be noted on the page.
