What affiliate links are
Some links on Getcrimata may be affiliate links. If you click one and then make a qualifying purchase from that retailer, we may receive a commission from the retailer or the affiliate network that manages the program. The price you pay is the same whether or not you use our link.
We may participate in affiliate programs run by retailers and by affiliate networks. When we join a program whose terms require a specific disclosure statement, we will add that statement to this page.
Why we're telling you
We want you to know about any financial relationship that could affect how you read our content. This disclosure is made in line with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 CFR Part 255), which require that material connections between a publisher and the products it discusses be clearly disclosed.
Because a disclosure on a separate page is easy to miss, every article on this site also carries a short notice near the top linking back here.
How commissions do and don't affect our content
- Companies do not pay us to be mentioned, ranked or recommended, and they don't see or approve our articles before publication.
- Whether a product has an affiliate program, or what commission it pays, plays no part in whether we include it or how we describe it.
- We will not describe a product as better than we believe it is, and we don't publish fake or incentivized reviews or testimonials.
- Our guides focus on buying criteria. Where we discuss specific products, we aim to note their drawbacks as well as their strengths.
Free products and other relationships
If a manufacturer or retailer ever provides us with a product free of charge, a loan, or any other payment or benefit connected to something we write about, we will state that clearly in the relevant article, not only on this page.
